Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour Returns to State College
Sierra Club Will Host Event at State College Area High School April 11-12

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (March 24, 2014) – The local Sierra Club Moshannon Group will once again host the State College leg of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. The screenings will take place April 11 and 12 at State College Area High School – South Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night and the films will begin at 7:00 p.m. A different set of exciting, outdoor films will be shown each night.
Banff Mountain Film Festival is an international film competition that culminates in an annual world tour. Each year, the top set of selected films travels to 40 countries and reach more than 390,000 people through approximately 840 screenings. The short films and documentaries feature exploration, adventure, culture, the environment, and mountain sports.
State College is one of four stops that the tour makes in Pennsylvania. Attendees will receive a raffle ticket to fill out during the event and will have the chance to win various prizes.
As part of an exclusive raffle this year, a GoPro camera will be given away. In order to be entered to win this prize, Banff attendees can participate in the photo contest prior to the event. Participants must submit one of their own outdoor photos to the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour – State College Facebook page, bit.ly/banffstatecollege. The winner of the photo contest will not only be entered into the prize raffle, but will receive 2 VIP tickets to the festival and have their photo on display at the event. Although the deadline to submit photos to win the photo contest is April 4 at 8:00 a.m., photo submissions will be accepted until April 9 at midnight in order to be entered into the GoPro raffle.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at our local presenting sponsor Appalachian Outdoors, online at appoutdoors.com, or at the door. Per night, student tickets with ID are $13, regular tickets at $15 in advance, or $17 if purchased at the door. Another option is to purchase both nights for $26 in advance.
About the Sierra Club Moshannon Group
Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy.
